2025-2027 Candidates for the WETT Board of Directors

Dalton Hooker (Current Board Member)

Dalton Hooker has worked in the heating industry for over 25 years with experience at the dealer, distributor, and manufacturer levels.

He grew up in the BC interior within a home that relied on wood for primary heat. He still relies on wood today for zone heating in his own home, and as primary heat in a cabin on a rural recreational property.

Dalton has been WETT Certified since 2002. He has advanced status as a system advisor, technician, and chimney sweep. He is also qualified as a SITE comprehensive inspector. For many years, Dalton acted as WETT’s technical writer, and is a regular contributor to the online member forum. You will find his posts under the nickname; “FireMan”.

He has served as Duravent Group’s Regional Sales Manager for Western Canada since 2010 and has always been an outspoken advocate for both WETT and the wood heat industry.

Gordon Little

Gordon Little has been on the WETT Board off and on since 1999, as well as the WET BC Board. He has extensive knowledge of solid fuel appliances, spanning over 4 decades.

Patrick Mullen

Patrick Mullen is passionate about contributing to the mission of WETT and with a background as a red seal mason and a WETT certification, he believes his industry training and experience uniquely positions him to add value as a member of the Board of Directors.

He has past experience in volunteer positions on community boards locally (Eastern Passage Carnival Committee - Director / Eastern Lodge 8686 Entertainment Committee - President / WET NS - Director), which has equipped him with a strong understanding of effective program development, strategic planning, and member engagement—all of which are essential for advancing WETT’s organization’s goals.

He is eager to leverage his skills to support WETT’s growth, ensure sustainable practices, specifically around the inspection process, and help expand its impact and communication within the membership community. Being part of the board would also provide him with an opportunity to collaborate with like-minded individuals dedicated to making a meaningful difference, and he is committed to using my expertise to help guide our organization toward continued success.

Ian Myers (Current Board Member)

Ian Myers has been WETT Certified since 2008. Being in a wood burning territory, his company meets the needs of the community by providing on average 700 – 800 inspection / sweeps per year, including referrals for inspection after chimney fires by local Fire Services.

He sits on the CSA B365 Technical Committee as a voting member, where he has been successful in forwarding the interests of WETT members and will continue to do so for many years. Likewise, his past years on the Board has provided him with the necessary WETT member perspective to inform his CSA participation.

He is also currently proceeding through the steps to become accredited as a WETT instructor. He is working at every turn to equip WETT professionals with knowledge that will make their work easier, with less liability due to a streamlined work process, clear communications and documentation. I look forward continuing with this work if I am elected again.

Edward Nolan

After his son was born is 2019, Edward Nolan has been throwing himself into the wood burning industry. The one thing that stands out above everything else is this industry is safety: knowing the client or anyone is burning safely is my only goal. He has retaken every test until he reached his advanced certifications. In every house he goes to, he gives explanations on what he sees based on the composition of what is in the "system".

He also shares the dangers of having any flammable deposits in their system and how to burn as safe as possible. He sticks to the code, but is never scared to do more than required if it means peace of mind for the home owner. He has also kept all his clients up to date with the current inspection forms, putting over 230 clients ahead of requirements by only using the forms offered by WETT before any mandates to do so.

If elected, he would use the opportunity to further grow his own knowledge and meet more professional "higher ups" in the industry as their knowledge is valuable. He would also appreciate and honour the role by taking on any tasks asked and being there for any member that wanted his help.

Shawn Percy

Shawn Percy wishes to be a part of the WETT Board of Directors to keep fellow Newfoundland members informed and to be a representing voice on their behalf. He would devote his time and energy to making sure his fellow board members feel included, heard, and understood.

He has been a certified member since 2002, an owner-operator of Percy's Masonry Ltd. and a Red Seal certified bricklayer since 1991. A recent passion of his has been to help instruct in a pre-employment 28 week Bricklaying course, foreperson, refractory gunite and Red Seal qualifier courses. These are just a few things that show why being a member of this Board would be extremely important and fulfilling to him.

Ryan Renshaw (Current Board Member)

Ryan Renshaw resides in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and has been a WETT member for the past 11 years. He enjoys serving this industry, as it requires working outdoors, meeting new people, problem solving and educating home owners on safe-burn practices. Over the course of his career, he has learned so much about this industry and is excited for the opportunity to continue learning more about WETT and how he can help make positive change in the industry!

He is WETT certified in the following categories: Chimney sweep, Technician and SITE Comprehensive Inspector.

If re-elected, he intends to continue to dedicate his time with the Communications Committee to create new interest in WETT to people outside the organization, with a hyper focus on education for homeowners. I feel this education — delivered through easy-to-consume video content — will help homeowners understand better the role of WETT practitioners and hold members to a higher standard of practice.

Ron Wilkovesky

Ron Wilkovesky is interested in joining the WETT Board of Directors to help promote the value and importance of WETT certification across the industry, especially within the insurance and restoration sectors. He is passionate about educating both industry colleagues and homeowners, and equally committed to learning from the collective experience of others.

He believes his background offers a unique perspective to the board, combining practical trade experience with consulting expertise. As a professional brick and stone mason, and now a consultant within a forensic engineering and building science firm, he works directly on insurance claims where solid-fuel systems are frequently involved. He also holds a Red Seal in brick and stone masonry and has spent nearly a decade installing fireplaces and wood-burning appliances.

Today, he serves as a voting member on the Program Advisory Committee for the masonry program at Conestoga College and regularly acts as an expert witness in litigation and appraisal files involving fireplaces and chimneys. He also completes inspections for Tarion Warranty in Ontario, with a focus on masonry-related deficiencies. He sees WETT as an essential tool in maintaining safety and accountability, and would be proud to contribute to its continued growth and credibility.
