In an interconnected global economy, the new COVID-19 (also known as Coronavirus) is affecting Canadian businesses and their operations. It has resulted in restrictions on travel and public gatherings, as well as supply chain disruptions and market uncertainty.
Personal and public health are paramount. Government, at all levels, have implemented guidelines, restrictions and recommendations.

Virtual Course Update
WETT is pleased to announce some exciting developments to our course offerings for Fall. Although COVID-19 has restricted our ability to provide our regular educational programming in recent months, the team at WETT has been hard at work developing a virtual alternative to our in-person classes.
This initiative was undertaken in an effort to support both our current members who are required to obtain continuing education (CE) credits, as well as those wishing to enter the WETT education stream and obtain certification.
The current curriculum has been modified for virtual instruction. A new Learning Management System has been secured in order for us to bring forth this opportunity.
For those entering the stream for certification:
- Code Compliance: 3-day course currently offered virtually
- Wood-burning Systems: 2-day course currently offered virtually
- SITE Basic Inspection: 1-day course currently offered virtually
Please note: This path will offer any new member a two-year certification. You will be required to complete the NEW two-day SITE Inspection course within 2 years in order to maintain your certification.
For current members seeking to fulfill CE requirements to maintain certification:
WETT is currently in the final stages of development of a new two-day SITE Inspection course. The final course will entail:
- Fully online pre-course module (about 1 hour in length)
- Two-day in-class modules (offered virtually in early 2022)
This course will be mandated for all members to complete as their next CE credit course.
For anyone requiring a CE credit in 2021/2022, we will offer the following:
Members will register for the NEW SITE Inspection course and complete the pre-course prior to the end of this year. Members will then be provided with an extension to their certification until such time as they have completed the two-day in-class portion of the course (to be completed by December 31, 2022).
*If WETT is not able to offer members the NEW SITE Inspection course prior to the end of 2022, all those requiring a CE credit will be provided a temporary extension until such time as the course is available. This will be managed with a reasonable time requirement for our members to complete the course.
